Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches, with up to 8 inches at locations above 5000 feet near the Tennessee border. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph at times. For the Winter Weather Advisory, snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. * WHERE...Western North Carolina mountain counties along the Tennessee border. * WHEN...From 1 PM Friday to 7 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute. The cold wind chills as low as 10 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Precipitation will begin by mid-afternoon, possibly mixing with rain in some lower valleys, but quickly changing over to all snow as the intensity increases by evening. The snow will pare back toward the Tennessee border early Saturday morning. Wind chills of minus 5 to minus 10 degrees are possible, especially at higher elevations, with a few ridge top locations as cold as minus 15 early Saturday.
