Nancy sends this photo. She said, "I am a NC licensed wildlife rehabilitator. Spring is baby season. Wild cottontail rabbits "nest" in shallow holes dug in the ground by the mother rabbit. Nests are often found in people's lawns, gardens or shrubs. Please walk the yard and look under shrubs to check for wildlife before doing yard work. Keep a close eye on your cats and dogs, they also find baby bunnies. The ears are painted so I can identify them while feeding." Thank you, Nancy for sharing a picture of these adorable bunnies and reminding us to be aware of the wildlife around us.
