Wilkes Acoustic Folk Society

WAFS will meet Monday March 22 at the Wilkes Heritage Museum, Main St. Wilkesboro at 7 pm. Bring your instruments and your dancing shoes or just attend. The event is free and open to the public. All ages welcome.

Watauga Beekeeper's Association Meets

Welcome back beekeepers! The Watauga County Beekeeper's Association kicks off 2010 with the first meeting on Thursday, March 18 at the Agricultural Conference Center in Boone. A question and answer session will begin at 7PM, with an educational program beginning at 7:30PM. Regular monthly meetings are held March through November on the first Tuesday of the month. These meetings are free and are a great way to meet fellow beekeepers and learn how to keep bees in the High Country.

Memorial Dedication

On Saturday, March 27, 2010 Banner Elk Volunteer Fire Rescue will be dedicating a memorial to the four fireman of the department that perished at sea on March 16, 2006.

Bake for Hope

Join the nationwide week-long Bake for Hope event! Bake for Hope hosts volunteer-run bake sales across the country the week before Mothers Day, May 2nd – 8th.  Proceeds benefit local women in your area with breast cancer treatments, through the Susan G. Komen for the Cure local affiliate. Join us today. Participation is easy and great for groups or individuals.  Volunteers can sign-up as Bake Sale Organizers, Bakers, or Communicators, or Area Coordinators. Or attend a Bake for Hope sale in your area.
