Showers; PM Storms Possible

A game-changing front moves through tonight. Today is generally cloudy and humid. A line of showers moves through early this morning, but the bulk of action will be this afternoon and evening--showers with isolated storms possible. A NW wind develops late tonight lasting into Saturday. Saturday will be much cooler with morning clouds. Spotty light rain is possible Saturday morning especially on the West side of the Appalachians. Then Sunday through Tuesday is a gloriously pleasant end of July and start of August.

Forecast Discussion

A front moves from the Ohio Valley today to the Southern Appalachians tonight. We'll have generally cloudy skies, a line of showers, and then a more active afternoon and evening with showers and thundershowers. A stronger storm is possible.

As low pressure exits through the Mid-Atlantic Saturday, we'll be in a breezy wrap-around NW flow. Expect morning clouds with spotty light rain possible, especially on the west side of the Appalachians. Sunshine increases Saturday afternoon and skies clear Saturday night. Temperatures will be surprisingly cooler.

Sunday through Tuesday, the center of high pressure slides from the Western Lakes to the Ohio Valley. We'll have near-perfect weather--lots of sun, cool nights. Temperatures move back toward seasonal averages by Tuesday.

There's no other front in our foreseeable future; however, as the center of high pressure moves into the Southeast. Temperatures will be slightly warmer with more humidity Wednesday and Thursday. I cannot completely rule out a stray afternoon thundershower Wednesday, and isolated showers or thundershowers are possible Thursday.
